UPS – AI-Powered Shipment & Business Insights Platform

This project for UPS focused on designing AI-powered interfaces to optimize shipment risk prediction and business decision-making. The goal was to integrate predictive analytics and conversational AI into UPS’s workflow, providing users with clear, actionable insights while maintaining the brand’s reliability and trust.

The design process included:

  • User flows and wireframes to simplify complex logistics data.

  • High-fidelity prototypes to validate UI decisions.

  • Component-based design system ensuring scalability across shipping and analytics tools.

  • Usability testing with internal stakeholders to validate clarity in risk visualization and AI-driven recommendations.

The objective was twofold:

Help users predict shipment risks in real time and act proactively. And provide managers with intelligent insights and conversational AI to make data-driven business decisions.

Conversational AI (Q&A)

Interface where users ask business questions and receive AI-driven answers.

  • UX: natural language queries lower barriers for non-technical users, democratizing access to analytics.

  • UI: conversational bubbles styled to separate user input from AI responses, creating a familiar chat experience.

  • Artifacts: user journey prototypes of conversational flows + evaluation of explainability patterns in AI outputs.

Risk Card – AI Powered

A compact risk card embedded in the flow. Designed for clarity at a glance, it shows the shipment’s overall risk score and allows users to expand for more detail when needed.

Expanded view with confidence levels, factors, and recommendations. The design prioritizes visual hierarchy (yellow highlights, progress bars) to make complex analytics quickly understandable.

  • UX: structured hierarchy: (1) confidence level, (2) key risk factors, (3) recommendations, ensuring progressive disclosure.

  • UI: visual bars and icons balance density with clarity, keeping analytics digestible.

  • Artifacts: prototypes validated with stakeholders to refine language tone (trustworthy, non-alarming).

Business Cockpit – Intelligent Insights

Dashboard providing top business insights, emerging patterns, and AI-driven Q&A. It consolidates data into cards, making it easier for managers to scan and prioritize actions. The left side shows aggregated insights; the right side includes an AI chat assistant for deeper exploration.

  • UX: simplified step-by-step flow reduces cognitive load, integrating risk visibility without disrupting the task.

  • UI: UPS brand system adapted to highlight CTAs, risk alerts, and total charges in a clear hierarchy.

  • Artifacts: wireframes to test flow clarity + prototype validation of form readability.
